Comfort with Cuddle Masks

We were approached by Melbourne Primary School about helping them to create a safe, positive environment to use face coverings so teachers are able to comfort children that are feeling upset or poorly. We decided to call these ‘cuddle masks’….

These face coverings wouldn’t just help each individual to feel safe, but it would allow them to be closer to the child in need of comfort. As parents of young children, we would like to think that if our child was distressed, they could seek comfort and reassurance from their teacher, especially through this difficult and worrying time.

Comforting a child in distress is so instinctive for teachers, these face coverings offer them and the child the protection they need to feel safe.

We have designed and made three different sizes for suit a variety of ages of children.

This school received 10 in each size, placed them at reception and have found them useful knowing that they’re there when needed.

Thank you very much for the Christmas masks! The previous ones went down a treat and I feel a festive frenzy coming on, when staff and children catch a glimpse. We really do appreciate the work that goes into making them and generosity of York Scrubs. - Mrs Estelle O’Hara, Headteacher at Poppleton Ousebank Primary School
